- Both feet must be behind the line; you may run up to the line to gain momentum before releasing the ball
- Both feet must maintain contact with the ground; no jumping; a dragging foot is permitted
- Ball must move from behind the head and be released above the head
- You must face in the direction of your throw; your feet must point in that direction; no twisting of the body
- The thrower may not touch the ball again until after the ball has touched another player
